Needwant: Kollect Needcd030
Needwant: Kollect is a look back on the London imprint’s year in music. Collectively bringing together some of the most sought producers for remixes and combining them with Needwant’s unique A&R, it’s been a year to remember.
The first quarter saw a string of releases with German based artists from the likes of Penner+Muder and VIMES. The ever popular GIOM, the experimental Panthera Krause and new kid on the block Neil Flynn all being drafted in for remixes.
Heading into Spring/Summer we welcomed Lo-fi producer Akasha System (100% Silk) to Needwant. A massive five track EP packing a lot of punch and signalling a mark on intent, earning a solid review from the guys over at Resident Advisor. Few Nolder also returned with his sophomore EP ‘Porcelain’ which included a stellar ten minute throwback remix from hotly tipped Octo Octa.
We finished the year with Berlin newcomer Algorythm - hot off the press with Ransom Note and Resident Advisor, with his Typhon EP. A weighty three track deep house release. We also saw the return of another Needwant family member: Koelle. The classically trained, melodic deep house producer’s Boarders of Soul EP also featured long term collaborator Elli, and an experimental remix from TERR (Hotflush).
